PASTOR
During this season without a pastor, our church is taking time to reflect, heal, and seek God’s guidance together. Though leadership may look different right now, we trust that the Lord is working within our congregation- strengthening relationships, restoring hearts, and preparing us for the next chapter. We move forward in unity and prayer, believing that God will provide the right shepherd in His perfect timing.
MINISTER OF MUSIC
Terri Mason
Since she grew up in the area on Grassy Hill Road, Terri Paxton Mason feels blessed to be in the Troutville area again. It seems, she has come full circle!
She had an early interest in playing the piano and eventually became church pianist of Rainbow Forest Baptist Church. She graduated in 1984 from Hollins University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Pedagogy with studies in Organ and then moved to Louisville, Kentucky where she began studies in Organ at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Eventually, she changed her focus to Christian Education and graduated in 1987 with a Master’s Degree in Christian Education and then became ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 1989. In March of 1985, she married John P. Mason (former Pastor of Fincastle Baptist). In 1990, John moved to Louisville with her and received his Ph.D. in New Testament Studies. There they served churches together in Louisville, KY; Norfolk, VA; and Colonial Heights near the Richmond area of Virginia.
Unfortunately, John passed away from cancer in September of 2013. Terry chose to follow in his footsteps and became Pastor of Woodlawn Baptist. A few years later, in 2017, after the death of her Father, she moved back to the local area here to be of help to her Mother in Boones Mill, Virginia.
Terri has 2 sons: Benjamin and John Michael. They remain in the Richmond area and are a constant source of blessing and inspiration!
YOUTH PASTOR
This is currently an open position at Troutville Baptist Church. We have numerous lay persons assisting with our youth group during this time of transition.
Children and youth are the future of any congregation and we must embrace them with open arms to ensure that the legacy of the gospel of Jesus Christ is passed to the next generation.
church pianist
Naomi Rock
Naomi Rock is our current Pianist. Rosalyn Shimp plays the organ
The role of the pianist in the church goes far beyond simply playing notes. A church pianist helps create an atmosphere of worship, guiding the congregation into a spirit of reverence, praise, and reflection. Through their musical sensitivity, they support the choir, enhance the message of the service, and bring unity to the voices of the congregation. Their ministry is both spiritual and artistic- using their gift to prepare hearts for worship, uplift the church body, and glorify God through every chord and melody.
